Lightforce Clear Braces

If you’re looking for an alternative to traditional braces and you don’t qualify for Invisalign, clear braces are becoming a more popular option. At Milnor Orthodontics, Lightforce is a state of the art option for anyone needing to correct a bad bite or crooked teeth. There are plenty of benefits that come with this alternative, such as seeing a faster recovery time and a more minimal aesthetic.

Why Clear Braces?

Traditional metal braces have been the standard method for correcting bites and straightening teeth for decades. Though they are a reliable tool for orthodontists, advancements in alternative methods have made more and more patients turn to options such as clear braces. Most of these are made of a ceramic composite that are resistant to damage, but also blend in with the natural color of your teeth.

The Lightforce Difference

There are several differences Lightforce boasts in comparison to other clear braces. Most notably, Lightforce is modeled and printed using the most technologically advanced 3D imaging software. Your orthodontist will painlessly scan your teeth in their office and submit the results to Lightforce. After a short wait, Lightforce will send your orthodontist a set of clear plastic trays with clear brackets in place. In the following appointment, your orthodontist will align the trays on your teeth, set the brackets and wires, and give maintenance instructions.

Because the brackets were 3D printed with each of your teeth in mind, your orthodontist won’t need to make any adjustments for them to fit well. After they are set, you will still need to come in for follow-up appointments, just less frequently, which will keep your time and cost down.

Maintenance

Lightforce braces are as easy to clean as other clear braces, and also share the same dietary restrictions. This typically means you should avoid hard, sticky, or sugary foods while wearing your braces. Hard foods that may damage your braces include but aren’t limited to ice, bagels or hard bread, hard candies, meat on the bone, and hard, uncooked vegetables or fruit. Sticky food such as taffy, caramel, corn, popcorn, or gooey cheese can get stuck in your braces, get wedged between your teeth, or otherwise impact your treatment. Lastly, you should avoid sugary foods which may rest in pockets of your braces and cause cavities to develop faster. On top of knowing what to eat while wearing braces, you should also consider how to properly clean your braces. Brushing after every meal and flossing at least once a day will limit the risk of cavities, which could impact treatment time.

Braces technology has come a long way, and clear braces have provided patients with a more minimal approach to a traditionally touchy subject. By using the latest advancements in 3D imaging technology, Lightforce is making braces treatment more efficient and simple for patients who want the power of braces without them being so obvious. By limiting the amount of appointments needed, the cost is comparable to the traditional option, and with proper maintenance, most people end up wearing their braces for a shorter period of time.
