The Best of Both Worlds
With clear braces, you can get the treatment power of traditional metal braces and the subtlety of plastic aligners.
The brackets on clear braces are made out of see-through ceramic, making them much less noticeable than metal brackets. At Milnor Orthodontics, we use Damon Clear brackets, which have several advantages:
No elastic ties - Most brands of braces require elastic bands to hold the wires in place, but Damon Clear brackets do not. This means no staining of your teeth from the bands.
No tightening - The wires on Damon braces run through the brackets rather than being held in place by bands, so no tightening of bands is required.
Fewer office visits - Because Damon braces do not need to be tightened on a regular basis, you do not need to see your orthodontist as frequently.
Shorter treatment time - The brackets on Damon braces are free to slide along the archwire, which allows your teeth to move more quickly.
Ceramic brackets are more fragile than metal, so they are typically placed only on the upper teeth, where braces are the most visible, and metal brackets are used on the bottom teeth.
