Comparing Invisalign to Other Aligner Brands

Thanks to the advancement in technology, orthodontic treatment has grown in leaps and bounds. Gone are the days when teeth straightening was done using metal braces. Nowadays, a patient can opt for brands like Invisalign and ClearCorrect which provide clear, removable teeth straightening aligners. In this article, we’ll be comparing Invisalign and ClearCorrect aligner treatment.

How Orthodontic Aligner Treatment Works

Orthodontic aligners are made from clear plastic, and you wear them on your top and bottom teeth. As you work your way through several sets of aligners, your teeth move gradually until they are properly aligned. Unlike the traditional metal braces, you have to remove the aligners when eating or drinking anything besides water. Each set of aligners should be worn at least 22 hours a day for five to seven days. Then you move on to the next pair. Treatment lasts anywhere from six to 18 months.

ClearCorrect vs Invisalign

Invisalign and ClearCorrect are two of the more well-known brands of aligner treatment. While they move teeth in a similar way, there are some differences between the two.

Cost

The cost of Invisalign and ClearCorrect is about the same when you compare the same levels of treatment. ClearCorrect advertises a price of $2000, but that is for their Limited treatment, which only provides 6 sets of aligners. To get the same level of treatment as Invisalign Full, ClearCorrect patients will still pay between $4000 and $5000.

Orthodontists who treat a lot of patients with Invisalign receive aligners at a discounted rate, and most doctors pass this savings onto their patients. So not only do you get the benefit of their extensive experience, you often get this convenient treatment for the same cost as braces. Invisalign also offers lower levels of treatment at a lower cost for patients with fewer or less severe issues.

Comfort in mouth and ease of use

While both companies use clear aligners, the material used differs greatly. ClearCorrect uses plastic which was used by Align Technology—the makers of Invisalign—years ago. Align Technology now uses a patented thermoplastic material which they developed after eight years of testing over 300 different materials.
The thermoplastic material used by Invisalign makes it easier to put on and remove the aligners and comfortable when worn in the mouth for a prolonged period. It is also BPA- and BPS-free and FDA approved.

Benefits of Choosing Invisalign

There are many reasons why you should opt for invisalign to straighten your teeth.
Invisalign has been used for many decades by orthodontists to straighten crooked teeth. As such, you can rest assured you’ll get the desired outcome. Invisalign still leads in terms of technology, while the competitors can only try to keep up. Some of the technology they utilize includes CAD/CAM and 3-D scanning technology. They are also at the forefront in inventing new ways of aligning teeth.

To be approved to use Invisalign for teeth straightening, dentists and orthodontists must complete and pass a certification. Moreover, they provide regular training on the best uses of Invisalign via webinars, workshops, and classes to help their providers serve their patients better.

Lab technicians at Align Technology are trained orthodontists, giving them advanced knowledge of both teeth movement and clear aligner therapy.

Choosing the Right Clear Braces Treatment

When deciding what treatment to use, it’s important to feel comfortable not only with the treatment type, but also the orthodontist and staff you will be working with. Be sure to find a practice with extensive experience in clear aligner treatment and get a treatment plan and cost estimate before making your final decision. Your smile will thank you for it!
